PITTSBURGH — We know who, at least, will take the first Pitt offensive and defensive snap of the 2023 season now.
Pitt announced its starting lineup at Acrisure Stadium just about an hour from kickoff, and there aren’t a whole bunch of surprises. Phil Jurkovec at quarterback, Gavin Bartholomew at tight end, Shayne Simon at linebacker were all expected.
But a few ‘OR’ spots have been cleared up.
Pitt is rolling with two starting running backs (Rodney Hammond Jr. and Daniel Carter) and two tight ends (Gavin Bartholomew and Karter Johnson) and just Konata Mumpfield and Bub Means listed as the starting wideouts.
Deandre Jules and Devin Danielson are starting at defensive tackle today, with Dayon Hayes and Nate Temple lined up on the outside. And as expected, Marquis Williams, M.J. Devonshire and A.J. Woods are listed as the three starting cornerbacks.

I just figured out why Pitt dominated this first half.
