Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi claps after the Panthers score against Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023 in Blacksburg, Virginia. (Mitchell Northam / Pittsburgh Sports Now.)

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Pitt is now off to the worst start of the Pat Narduzzi era, dropping to 1-4 after a brutal loss to Virginia Tech Saturday night, and Narduzzi addressed the media following the loss.

He — once again — defended Phil Jurkovec’s play at quarterback, talked about how Pitt will need to self-scout to figure out what ails the spiraling team and figure out how to fix those issues before Louisville comes to town on Oct. 30. And he said that any changes will be discussed over the bye week.

It’s so sad watching this train wreck! 3 and out on every drive. Worst OL & OC in D1 football. How did it get this bad??? 1-11 season after winning ACC 2 years ago.

Nonetheless, Jurkovec has played poorly this season, especially for a 24 year old with lots of experience. This season is clearly a rebuild year (looking at 3 wins max), and Veilleux may be the future – so he should without question start the next game. The most ridiculous aspect of this team is that arguably the best offensive player, TE Bartholomew has… Read more »

You may want to visit the Panthers roster site or stay abreast of the situation a bit better. The QB Coach and Recruiting coordinator, Jonathan DiBasio, has not been with the program before the beginning of the season. Cignetti is listed as the QB Coach as well as the Offensive Coordinator.

The coach made excuses for having 8 penalties. Did not take any responsibility for them. Don’t expect those to get any better.
