When Pitt didn’t reveal its uniform combo in the days leading up to the North Carolina game last month, there were some who thought the Panthers could be unveiling new alternate uniforms.
That didn’t end up being the case. But there may be some uniforms in the near future.
P.J. O’Brien Jr. seemingly teased an alternate helmet on Instagram, shared by Twitter user Ghost of Whip Tuesday. It’s a white helmet, which Pitt does not currently have in its inventory, that has a royal blue stripe — or the Cathedral Stripe — and an H2P emblazoned just above the facemask.
The current home uniform features the beloved blue and gold, with blue jerseys, gold pants and a gold helmet with a royal blue stripe and script. It’s classic. And the away uniforms include white jerseys, gold pants and a gold helmet with a royal blue stripe and script.
There is a gray uniform set out there, but it’s not often used. And Pitt used its ‘Roc the Royal’ uniforms last season, which include all blue jerseys and pants.
Narduzzi has actually teased the potential of new threads in the future. There’s a chance Pitt could add another uniform to its ranks — something that hasn’t really happened since Pitt switched to its current uniforms in 2019.
In an interview with OutKick’s Anthony Farris in July, Narduzzi answered a question about how he’d feel if Pitt were to move away from its current uniform scheme:
“We didn’t have those when I first got here (in 2014), but they’re awesome,” He said. “It’s been great to get those colors back to where they’re supposed to be. And we’ll add some more flavors (of the uniform) in the next couple of years. But they certainly are nice to look at … And I wouldn’t resign if they changed the uniforms, that wouldn’t be real smart. But put it this way — I would not be real happy if someone came in and said we’re going to go back to some other colors. Wouldn’t be too happy. “
It’s merely speculation at this point, but a white helmet could be part of a new all-white uniform combination in the future. It would likely be a welcomed alternate set.
The next chance Pitt has to unveil new uniforms — and to unveil changes made during the bye week — will come against Louisville on Oct. 14.
So, coach can’t make a definitive statement on uniforms OR quarterbacks.

our DBs typically have two unused mouthguards on the facemask before they get a 15-yard penalty for taunting. It looks like he is practicing for his next 15-yard penalty (see Cincinnati opening drive).
Old school white facemask with the yellow helmet and blue script PITT is fitting, they used those in 1995. We may make the Bottom 25 playoff this Year.

If we can’t play like Penn state we can at least try to look like them.

Karl, I have to bust your chops buddy. I’m sorry. But on March 19, 2023, you wrote an article talking up how Pitt’s offense is way ahead of where they were a year ago. You gave me false hope man.
With the way they play and more importantly aren’t coached. They should wear clown outfits…..with Frauduzzi in one with the Clown pointy hat as well. Cigs…too..naturally.
This new look for the uni’s. Just bottoms, skin on top. Clown suits for Nards & Cigs.
