On Thursday night, one of Pitt’s high-priority targets in the class of 2025 will announce his much-anticipated top five schools list.
Alier Maluk, a forward who formerly played for Imani Christian in Pittsburgh, is now at Long Island Lutheran playing high-level hoops in New York for his junior season. Since his high-school career began, he has been on Pitt’s campus countless times, taking unofficial visits, going to games, and playing high-school matchups at the Petersen Events Center.
Maluk recently took an official visit to Florida State, and has also been hearing from coaches at Ole Miss, Oregon, Pitt, Kentucky, Baylor, and others throughout the fall. He is currently listed as a 6-foot-9 power forward on 247 Sports, and is ranked as the No. 35 player in the country according to the site’s composite rankings.
Maluk received an offer from Pitt back on August 25, 2021 when he was beginning his freshman season at Imani. On June 15 this past summer, he was finally allowed to hear directly from college coaches. On that night at midnight, the first call he received was from Pitt assistant coach Jason Capel.
