On Saturday, Pitt will take the floor in some pre-season college basketball action against an enticing opponent from the Big East.

Pitt will play the new-look Georgetown Hoyas in a secret scrimmage on Saturday, October 21, per source. The scrimmage will take place at a neutral site. The Hoyas are led by Ed Cooley, who spent the past 12 seasons with Providence, leading the Friars to seven NCAA Tournament appearances. Cooley took over the Georgetown job in March, and brought in an impressive transfer class to lead the Hoyas in year one.

Georgetown brought in the following players through the transfer portal this season: Jayden Epps (Illinois), Dontrez Styles (North Carolina), Austin Montgomery (LSU), Cam Bacote (Western Carolina), Supreme Cook (Fairfield), Ismael Massoud (Kansas State), and more. On October 14, according to John Fanta of Fox, Georgetown beat Wake Forest in a secret scrimmage behind a 46-point outburst by Epps.

Pitt returns senior Blake Hinson and junior Federiko Federiko, along with the Diaz-Graham twins and Will Jeffress, who is coming back from a foot injury. The Panthers also brought in transfers Ishmael Leggett, Zack Austin, and Mike Hueitt Jr. this offseason, in addition to freshmen Carlton Carrington, Jaland Lowe, Marlon Barnes, and Papa Amadou Kante (Out for Season).

This will be the first (known) scrimmage for the Panthers outside of their two exhibition games in Spain in August. Pitt went 2-0 on its foreign tour, with Hinson, Austin, and Leggett leading the way across two games.

How about playing Duquesne in an enticing non-secret game so that we can at least have one rival on the darn schedule.

He’s spent 6 years ducking them. That’s not going to change.
