Pitt Reveals New All-White Uniforms for Wake Forest

Pitt.

There was speculation swirling that Pitt would be unveiling a new white helmet at some point this season, and it’s finally come to fruition as the Panthers will wear all-white this weekend.

Pitt football unveiled its uniform combo for Wake Forest Saturday afternoon, and it does include that white helmet.

The uniform combo features a white helmet with the “Cathedral Stripe” and blue script and an H2P on the faceplate, white jerseys with blue script and white pants with a blue stripe. It’s a new variation of the traditional road uniforms.

The current home uniform features the beloved blue and gold, with blue jerseys, gold pants and a gold helmet with a royal blue stripe and script. It’s classic. And the away uniforms include white jerseys, gold pants and a gold helmet with a royal blue stripe and script.

There is a gray uniform set out there, but it’s not often used. And Pitt used its ‘Roc the Royal’ uniforms last season, which include all blue jerseys and pants.

Pitt and Wake Forest will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, being played at Wake Forest’s Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. And it will be just the second time that Pitt has ever played in Winston-Salem.

It will be another important game for Pitt, but unlike the last handful of games, it will come in the hopes of continuing a winning streak after knocking off No. 14 Louisville over the weekend.

The Demon Deacons are 3-3 this season, without a win in the ACC thus far (losses to Georgia Tech, Clemson and Virginia Tech), boasting a mid-tier offense and defense through the first half of the season, with wins over Elon, Vanderbilt and Old Dominion. The Deacons had an early bye week sandwiched around conference losses to Georgia Tech and Clemson.

Pitt has played Wake Forest twice in its history, and the last matchup came in the 2021 ACC championship game in Charlotte, N.C. — a 45-21 win capped by Erick Hallett winning MVP honors.

The two sides first met back in 2018, with Kenny Pickett throwing for 316 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-13 win at BB&T Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Too much emphasis placed on expensive uniforms – Do the classroom professors get new lab coats every week?

Don’t necessarily disagree with your overall sentiment. The big key though is football generates its own revenue to fund itself. They’re capable and permitted to spend it as it pleases. To my knowledge the team revenues are shared to some extent with the university departments. So it’s kind of a mutually exclusive arrangement. Our employers don’t tell us how to spend our paychecks just as we don’t tell our employers how to spend their profits. Same concept applies here.

These unis are like new coke; totally unnecessary. The normal uniforms are perfect. Don’t mess with them.

Agree, but I think that the players love all the new uniforms.

When they lose to Wake in these things. They can then toss them. Or donate to Goodwill.

I like the new unis. People are too jaded and cynical to appreciate them and understand that new uniforms also helps with recruiting. People, especially kids like shiny, new things
