National basketball analyst Andy Katz is once again higher on Pitt than most other national media members.
As Katz released this season’s first edition of his “Power 36” power rankings, he included the Panthers at No. 36, earning the final spot.
“Carlton Carrington had a triple-double in his Pitt debut and the Panthers haven’t missed a step after a two-win NCAA tournament run last March,” Katz said.
Pitt is ranked behind five other ACC teams in the Power 36: Miami (No. 8), Duke (No. 10), Clemson (No. 18), Virginia (No. 26), and North Carolina (No. 28).
Katz was also high on the Panthers last year, ranking them in the top-30 in January and naming Jamarius Burton the March Madness Player of the Week for his 31-point effort in a win over North Carolina.
