PITTSBURGH — The penultimate game of the season pits Pitt against Boston College, and there are quite a few notable changes for the final home game of the season.
Nate Yarnell will make his first start of the season against Boston College, and his offensive line will have a new configuration for what feels like the 100th time this season.
Jake Kradel and Blake Zubovic will start at the guard spots in the final home game of their respective six-year careers at Pitt. Both Kradel and Zubovic have dealt with injuries this season, and they will be healthy and active as the starting left and right guards, respectively, against Boston College.
Gavin Bartholomew, who is in a walking boot, is inactive. And Karter Johnson is the lone starting tight end this week — with Konata Mumpfield, Bub Means and Daejon Reynolds announced as the three starting wide receivers.
Samuel Okunlola is also making his first start of the 2023 season, replacing Nate Temple, as his role has increased slowly each week this season. And Deandre Jules and David Green are the starting inside duo with Devin Danielson out of the lineup — wearing street clothes during warmups.
It’s the final home game of the 2023 season, and some of the decisions made do point toward the future of the program. But the goal — still — is to beat Boston College.
