The Pitt Panthers have their first entry into the NCAA Transfer Portal, as walk-on wide receiver and former Blackhawk graduate Lorenzo Jenkins has decided to leave Pitt and talked to Pittsburgh Sports Now about his reasoning.
“My family and I are not able to continue to pay for school, so we are looking for an opportunity to compete for a scholarship and help be a contributor to the team in anyway possible. I have 3 years of eligibility left and have completely changed my game on the field since high school, so I know I can help a team somewhere,” said Jenkins.”
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide out joined Pitt for the 2022 season as a walk-on and redshirted that season. This past season, Jenkins did not get on the field for Pitt.
Coming out of high school, Jenkins was a big playmaker for the Blackhawk Cougars as he collected 72 catches, 702 yards and eight touchdowns his senior season. The 72 catches were both a new Blackhawk and Beaver County record.
Jenkins was one of eight other walk-on wide receivers at Pitt this season, joining Josh Junko, Peter Vardzel, Caden Smith, Devin Whitlock, Thaddeus Shaw and Benny Haselrig.
He is the second player to transfer from Pitt, with defensive lineman Todd Hill leaving towards the end of the season for Slippery Rock. Jenkins is the first player this offseason to transfer from the program.
????? should be What went right.
Why would any kid want to play for a head coach who is constantly gorging on snacks while talking to players. He probably has bits of Little Debbie Snack Cakes in his eye.
Wish him nothing but the best. Hopefully he can land a scholarship somewhere so he can stay in school and get his degree(s).
