Pitt Extends Offer to All-Ivy League Offensive Lineman

Pitt has clearly made the offensive line a priority in the transfer portal early this offseason, even with both starting tackles announcing their returns to Pittsburgh, and the Ivy League has been a popular target.

Pitt extended an offer to Yale transfer lineman Jonathan Mendoza last month, and the coaching staff extended an offer to Harvard transfer lineman Jacob Rizy Wednesday afternoon.

Rizy, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive tackle from Westport, Conn., is a big, versatile offensive lineman who dominated at across the line during his time at Harvard.

He’s also received offers from Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, UTSA, Tulsa, Tulane, Purdue and Duke since entering the portal last month.

Rizy originally committed to Harvard back in the class of 2020, holding a lone Power Five offer from Boston College, and he developed into a back-to-back All-Ivy League offensive lineman.

Rizy was a standout on the Harvard offensive line in 2023, leading the Crimson with 615 offensive snaps — all of which came at left tackle.

Pro Football Focus credits Rizy with allowing just six pressures, four hurries and two quarterback hits — no sacks — last season. In his two seasons as a starter on the line, at right tackle in 2022 and left tackle in 2023, he’s allowed just 13 pressures and no sacks.

He didn’t play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he played in just two games in 2021, before earning second-team All-Ivy League in 2022 and first-team All-Ivy League in 2023.

Rizy will have two seasons of eligibility at his next location, and the Ivy Leaguer will clearly be in high demand this offseason.

Ryan Baer and Branson Taylor, who have started the majority of games at tackles this season, are returning next season — as is Terrence Enos Jr., who picked up a spot start in 2023. And Jackson Brown, Tai Ray and Ryan Carretta are all a season more mature.

Pitt has Terrence Moore back as a rather successful center, and BJ Williams figures to have the lead on a guard spot in 2024. Jason Collier Jr. and Ryan Jacoby, if they chooses to return, are in the mix — as is Dorien Ford.
