Saturday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Steelers-Colts, New Mexico Bowl, Penguins-Maple Leafs
Another 2-1 night yesterday for the winning picks. The Spurs not only covered against the Lakers but won outright and ended their long losing streak. The total went way under in the UConn/Gonzaga matchup. The over never had a chance. The Islanders blew a lead and ended up losing in overtime. We move to 47-39-2 on the year.
We have an action packed day of both college and pro football. I will be picking only one bowl game in the winning picks, I do have some leans on some guys. Look for Miami to keep pace with Appalachian St, they should cover. The same with Boise St and Cal, who can win outright.
In the NFL, look for the total to go way over in Broncos/Lions. Detroit’s offense and Jared Goff are completely different playing in a dome. Whether they play outside or inside, the Lion’s defense is a mess. Look for guys like David Montgomery, Courtland Suton and Sam LaPorta to find the end zone.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Indianapolis Colts (-1) O/U 41.5 4:30 PM on NFL Network
The Steelers are at a crossroads as they travel to Indiana to face the Colts, a team that hasn’t beaten the Black & Gold since 2008. Historically, the Steelers record against Indianapolis might be their best record versus any franchise.
Since they first started playing in 1950, Pittsburgh is 27-6 against the Colts. Indianapolis, then the Baltimore Colts, could have a few more wins against the Steelers if they had played between 1958 and 1967.
This is a must win game for the Steelers. Mitch needs to protect the ball and the offensive line needs to get this run game going. Look for Jaylen Warren to have a big game and find the end zone. Same with Pat Freirmuth.

New Mexico St (-3) vs Fresno St O/U 52.5 Isleta New Mexico Bowl 5:45 PM on ESPN
This New Mexico Bowl this year features a team that really wants to represent their home state against a team that really doesn’t want to be there. The Aggies of New Mexico St come into this contest off one of their best seasons in program history. Jerry Krill has done a heck of a job there.
On the flip side, Fresno St essentially slept the last part of their season after missing out on their chance to compete for the Mountain West title. To make matters worse, the Bulldogs will be without their head coach Jed Teford, who is missing the game with health concerns.
That being said, the Aggies are much more motivated than the Bulldogs and that edge will give New Mexico St back-to-back bowl wins as they win and cover.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Toronto Maple Leafs (-130) O/U 6.5 7:00 PM on SportsNet Pittsburgh
After being ice cold last week, the Penguins head to Toronto red hot after winning a long shootout against Montreal. As with last season, the Pens have been a very streaky team this year.
They will win 3 or 4 games in a row then proceed to lose their next 3 or 4 straight. You can never get a sense of what kind of team they are. But one thing is for certain, Sidney Crosby is playing some of his best hockey in recent memory.
And with this game being on Hockey Night in Canada for the folks up North, look for Crosby to put on a show and lead the Penguins to victory.
