Duquesne has extended an offer to former Oklahoma State quarterback Gunnar Gundy.

Gundy — a 6-foot-1, 190-pound redshirt junior from Stillwater, Okla. — spent the last three seasons at Oklahoma State, playing as a walk-on quarterback for his father Mike, who has served as the Cowboys’ head coach for nearly 20 years.

Gundy has also picked up offers from Ohio, Indiana State, Abilene Christian and Elon since entering the transfer portal.

Gundy, who played at Stillwater High School, growing up alongside the Oklahoma State football program, chose to walk on with the Cowboys over offers from Eastern Michigan and Toledo.

He redshirted as a true freshman in 2021, playing in a lone game against TCU, and he played in four games as a second-year freshman in 2022.

Gundy played in four games last season, including a final appearance in the Cowboys’ Texas Bowl win over Texas A&M Wednesday, scoring a rushing touchdown in the process. He completed 21-of-34 pass attempts for 202 yards and a touchdown — adding 49 yards and a touchdown on the ground — in 2023.

In three seasons at Oklahoma State, he completed 40-of-73 pass attempts (55%) for 449 yards with four touchdowns — adding 120 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Gundy will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at his next location, and the Dukes are now in the hunt for the former OKST quarterback.

Duquesne is coming off a 7-5 season, capped with an appearance in the FCS national playoffs, and Walter Payton Award finalist Darius Perrantes is able to return at quarterback. He threw for 2,324 yards and 21 touchdowns last season.

Gundy would add a ready and willing challenger in the quarterbacks room while also maintaining another year of eligibility.
