Duquesne Football

Duquesne football has featured an FBS opponent in their schedule quite often in recent years and will do so yet again in 2024 in Boston College.

The Dukes will travel to face the Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Week 2, which will make it four straight seasons with a game against an FBS program. It will also serve as the 10th game against an FBS team for the Dukes, since they moved to the FCS level in 1993.

Duquesne faced off against two FBS teams last season, losing both times. They took the lead against West Virginia and were down just 14-10 before an almost two-hour rain delay allowed the home team to dominate the rest of the way, winning 56-17 on Sept. 9.

Coastal Carolina then absolutely dominated Duquesne throughout the following week in a 66-7 blowout on Sept. 16, also on the road.

The Dukes have won just one game against an FBS team since their transition, against the Ohio Bobcats on the road, in a 28-26 victory on Sept. 11, 2021.

Boston College themselves have had incredible success against FCS opponents, winning 19 straight since 1999.

Duquesne football had an incredibly successful 2023 season. They finished 7-5, but 6-1 in the Northeast Conference, giving them their first NEC title since 2018, putting them into the NCAA FCS Playoffs. They would lose on the road to Youngstown State in the First Round.

Don’t know much about Duquesne Football but it would be interesting to see them square off against Pitt. I could see that being a fun game in September with a lot of fans in attendance. Better than playing a Austin Peay or Rhode Island.
