Saturday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Peach Bowl, Barstool Arizona Bowl, Lions-Cowboys

Published

on

We were so close yet so far away from going 3-0 yesterday. Our picks with Notre Dame spread and the Over Memphis/Iowa St easily covered. It wasn’t close. But the Over 50 in Missouri/Ohio St wasn’t even close to covering. The Buckeyes couldn’t move the ball all night and the Tigers did nothing until late in the game. I feel sorry for all those Ohio St fans who paid their hard earned money to go to that game (not really). We finished 2-1 last night. We move to 76-53-2 on the year.

We have another action packed day of football and Pittsburgh sports. Though I normally have a few picks on Pittsburgh sports, that will not be the case today, however, I will give out some leans. With Pitt/Syracuse, I am leading normals taking the Orange. Pitt is only 2-3 vs Power 5 teams this year, with wins over lowly Oregon St and West Virginia. Take Syracuse to get the win.

As for the Penguin game, I would take the Under 6.5. Expect the Pens to win in a tight battle. I will have picks for 2 of the bowl games, but here is who I like for the others. Without Tua’s brother, I don’t see Maryland being able to move the ball much vs Auburn. Take the Tigers to cover the spread. As for Florida St/Georgia, I might be a sucker, but I do like the Seminoles to cover the near touchdown spread. The biggest factor in this bet covering is how much each team cares about this game. Florida St should care just a little more.

Ole Miss Rebels vs Penn St Nittany Lions (-5.5) O/U 53.5 Peach Bowl 12:00 PM on ESPN

My pick for this game kind of scares me. No, I am not picking Ole Miss to win the game outright or to even cover. What scares me is the coordinator situation for Penn St.

Penn St will have interim coaches on both offense and defense. Their biggest opt out for this bowl game was Chop Robinson, who should be a first round pick in the NFL Draft. Despite that loss and one in the secondary, Penn St still has a formidable defense.

This will be the best defense Jaxson Dart and Ole Miss have faced not named Alabama or Georgia. In both of these games the Rebels struggled to move the ball. Dart’s performance will be a big key into how this game will go for Ole Miss. As will Drew Allar’s for Penn St.

I am going to take Penn St to win and cover in this game. This might go down to the wire but I feel Penn St pulls away in the end.

Penn St Covers -5.5, Ole Miss Rebels 21 Penn St Nittany Lions 27

Toledo Rockets vs Wyoming Cowboys (-4) O/U 44 Barstool Arizona Bowl 4:30 PM on the CW

Last year this game was exclusively on Barstool TV, exposing unfamiliar football fans to the power that is Barstool Sports. Now this game gets to be on the CW, showcasing even more people to it. One team that was in this game returns to the Barstool Bowl with their coach retiring after the game.

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl will retire after this game. Bohl took over the Wyoming football program after winning FCS National Champions at North Dakota St. Surprisingly they are getting over a field goal in a game where they face a Toledo team that had over 11 wins. And that is for good reason.

Toledo QB Dequan Finn will be out for this game as he entered the transfer portal looking for a better opportunity. The Rockets do have a physical running back in Peny Boone, who weighs 240 and rushing for 1,400 yards this year. That’s a big boy running the ball. However, Wyoming has the physicality on defense to match Boone.

With their coach retiring, Wyoming will be playing with their hair on fire for Bohl. I like Wyoming to cover in a physical game.

Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys (-5.5) O/U 52.5 8:15 PM on ESPN

Last week, Detroit captured their first division title since 1993. I was 1 year old when that last happened and the division was the NFC Central, which no longer exists. To put it more in perspective, Bill Clinton was in his first term as president, which feels like another lifetime.

The Cowboys have locked up a playoff spot but are still in the fight of their lives for the NFC East. This Dallas team does not want to be a road warrior in the playoffs, they are a completely different team outside Jerry World.

Detroit has still not fixed their problems on the defensive end. I believe the Cowboys will feast offensively with Ceedee Lamb, who should go over his receiving totals and score a touchdown. Jared Goff should have a nice game inside the dome, it is the only place he performs well.

I like this very large Over to cover in this. These teams have the firepower to cover it.

Over 52.5 Covers, Detroit Lions 24 Dallas Cowboys 34
