Super Bowl Sunday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Celtics-Heat, Minnesota-Iowa, Chiefs-49ers

Published

on

What could’ve been a 3-0 Saturday ended up being a 1-2 day for the Winning Picks. The low under in Penguins/Jets covered for us and I actually predicted the score right in a Pens game for the second game in a row, take that for what it’s worth. The under in Duquesne/St. Bonventature was looking like a lock for much of the game but free throws at the end ruined, that will happen in a close game. North Carolina won by 3 but didn’t cover the -3.5; so close yet so far from covering. We moved to 143-109-3 on the year.

Now we will have additional games in the Winning Picks today, but I know everyone’s main focus is the Super Bowl. I will get into my prop bets more in depth when giving my Super Bowl Winning Pick, but I went to run down some of the Super Bowl MVP bets I have been throughout the last couple weeks:

Christian McCaffrey: +400

Travis Kelce: 12/1, 14/1, 15/1

Isiah Pacheco 25/1

Brandon Aiyuk 50/1, 60/1

Rashee Rice 60/1

George Karlaftis 300/1

Absent from this list are Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy and this is for a good reason. Both have the lowest odds for their respective teams and when it comes to Purdy, I don’t believe he will win the award if the 49ers do win. As for Mahomes, he has a great chance to win the award but remember Tom Brady never won three consecutive Super Bowl MVPs when his Patriot teams won. Keep that in the back of your head. We have a lot to get to with this game but first:

Boston Celtics (-5.5) at Miami Heat O/U 226.5 2:00 PM on ABC

We only get two NBA games today with the Super Bowl but we get a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals as Boston travels to South Beach to face the Heat. The Celtics have continued their dominant run in the East from last season while the Heat are waiting in the weeds for the playoffs to start. Miami has a great shot in the playoffs no matter what seed they end up with.

As for today’s game, this game means a lot more to the Celtics as they can sweep the season series with the Heat. This Boston team needs confidence rolling down the stretch of the season that they can finally win it all after getting so close the last few seasons. Celtics win and cover today in Miami.

Minnesota Golden Gophers at Iowa Hawkeyes (-6.5) O/U 154.5 3:00 PM on Big Ten Network

Before you bet your house (responsibly) on the Super Bowl, you should put a wager down on this Big Ten clash between Minnesota and Iowa. And that has to do more with the Golden Gophers more than anything because their previous against the spread streak is only growing larger.

Minnesota is an incredible 19-3 ATS this season. That is an insane number for this deep into a year. The Hawkeyes have won 5 straight against the Gophers but are 3-2 ATS during that run. I believe this impressive run will continue today and Minnesota gets the cover in Iowa.

Kansas City Chiefs vs San Francisco 49ers (-2) O/U 47.5 Super Bowl 58 6:30 PM on CBS

Well, it’s finally here. The last football we will get until August (unless you count the United Football League in April which I do). Can the Chiefs cement their dynasty with their 3rd Super Bowl win in 5 years or can the 49ers win their first win game since Super Bowl 29?

Let’s get right into the props I love. The tight ends for both sides Travis Kelce and George Kittle should go over their receiving props. Isiah Pacheco should smash his over rushing prop and be in contention for MVP. As for touchdown scorers, Kittle is one that I like but I also placed some on some longshots like Patrick Mahomes, Justin Watson and Jerick McKinnon, who could be playing his last NFL game.

As for the game itself, I am going with the Chiefs to cover and win the Super Bowl. I love the Purdy story, but he has struggled against elite defenses this year. Kansas City’s defense has been playing at that level over the past month. The Chiefs will do enough on offense and grind out the 49ers to a win. And no, Travis Kelce won’t propose to Taylor Swift after the win but he will get another trophy for himself: MVP.
