Future Pitt Panther Brandin Cummings has cemented himself as one of the WPIAL’s top players ever since he started playing for Lincoln Park.
The senior led the Leopards to a WPIAL title last season, and is looking to repeat as champions once again alongside five-star prospect Meleek Thomas. While on his quest to yet another team accomplishment, Cummings recently earned an impressive personal achievement. On Friday, Cummings surpassed the 2,000-point career milestone.
In the same game, according to the Pittsburgh Union Progress’ Brad Everett, Cummings also set a record: he and his older brother Nelly (former Pitt PG) surpassed Matty and TJ McConnell as the WPIAL’s all-time leading scoring duo made up of two brothers.
Cummings officially signed with Pitt, becoming the Panthers’ first 2024 signee, back in November. The Panthers also have earned a national letter of intent from 6-foot-9 senior forward Amdy Ndiaye.
“I love Pitt,” Cummings told PSN’s Nathan Breisinger in a recent interview. “I’ve been a huge Pitt guy for obviously the last two years. I can’t wait to get up there. Those guys are already like my brothers. I’m already close with everybody up there.”

Nelly is now playing professional basketball overseas with Akademik Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
