Both National Signing Days have come and gone, but Pitt is still likely to land a recruit or two — or a few — from the class of 2024.

Pitt added a commitment from Truitt Brown — a 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end from Sickles High in Tampa, Fla. — in the form of a preferred walk-on commitment. As a recruit in the class of 2024, it’s an opportunity for Brown to come in and compete this summer.

“Extremely blessed to announce I’ve committed to the University of Pittsburgh, Brown wrote on Twitter. “Huge thanks to all my trainers, coaches, family and friends who have taught me life skills while bettering my ability to play the game I love.”

Brown held PWO offers from Temple, Lafayette, Towson and Louisville, and he held a scholarship offer to Stetson.

Pitt added a commitment from 2024 three-star tight end Malachi Thomas on Signing Day in February, and Brown adds another body to the room.

Kade Bell extended the offer back on Feb. 8, signaling the new offensive coordinator’s interest in the young tight end.

Pitt currently has walk-on tight ends Adam Howanitz and Josh Altsman on the roster, to go along with Gavin Bartholomew, Jake Overman, Jake Renda, Cole Mitchell and Thomas.

Brown was a multi-purpose threat at Sickles as a senior, racking up 30 receptions for 385 yards (12.8 yards per reception) and five touchdowns, and he served as a key blocker in the offensive scheme, too.

Brown was not rated by any of the major recruiting services, but he held a lot of interest (and received a lot of offers) during his recruiting process. He should be able to add another versatile young player into the system.

Pitt recently added a PWO commitment from athlete Jacob Sassic (Pittsburgh, Pa.), and there will be a few more added throughout the offseason.
