Pitt Reaches out to Transfer Forward Brandon Johnson

With the transfer portal opening up on Monday, Pitt had to quickly shift from focusing on this past season to the future of the program.

The Panthers have already reached out to two transfers as part of that process. After reaching out to Mikael Brown-Jones earlier, the staff has now contacted Brandon Johnson, per Joe Tipton.

Johnson is a 6-foot-8, 210-pound junior forward out of Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended Rolesville High School and then went to Brunswick Community College before attending ECU. This year, he set a season high of 30 points against UTSA. Johnson was scorching hot from three-point range in that game, hitting 7 of his 11 three-point attempts. His season high in rebounds was 15, dominating the glass against Delaware State.

He had the following stat lines against high major opponents this season:

VS. SOUTH CAROLINA: 38 minutes, 3-9 shooting. 2-6 3FG, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 10 points.

VS. FLORIDA: 34 minutes, 4-6 shooting, 3-5 3FG, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, 12 points.

In 2022-23, Johnson posted six points and five rebounds against South Carolina, as well as seven points and five rebounds against Houston.

Tipton reported that Johnson has also heard from South Carolina, Arkansas, Clemson, St. John’s, Notre Dame, Miami, and Seton Hall.
