Tip-Off Times Set for Duquesne, Pittsburgh Games

Published

on

For the first time since 1969, the Duquesne Dukes won a NCAA Tournament game. With the 71-67 win over No. 6 BYU, the 11th-seeded Dukes advance to the Round of 32.

The Dukes’ matchup with No. 3 Illinois will tip off at 8:40 p.m. (ET) from Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, March 23. It will be broadcasted on TNT.

SOUTH REGION

11 NC State Vs. 14 Oakland — 7:10 p.m.

The Pittsburgh sub-regional games were filled with upsets on day one with the biggest coming as No. 14 Oakland stunned No. 3 Kentucky behind 32 points on 10 triples from Jack Gohlke in the performance of the tournament so far. Oakland will take on No. 11 NC State after the Wolfpack downed the sixth-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders in the nightcap on Thursday. Both teams entered the Big Dance after winning their respective conference tournaments with NC State clinching the ACC title and Oakland claiming the Horizon League championship.

The Golden Grizzles and Wolfpack will kick off the two-game slate at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on Saturday on TBS and TruTV.

MIDWEST

3 Creighton Vs. 11 Oregon — 9:40 p.m.

To close out the Pittsburgh tournament games, Creighton will take on an Oregon team that upset No. 6 South Carolina. Ducks’ senior and former Gamecock Jermaine Couisnard registered an ultra-impressive 40-point performance on Thursday to lift his team to the Round of 32. Creighton thwarted a pesky 14th-seeded Akron team that put up a strong fight in the first half, but the Bluejays pulled away in the second.

The Bluejays and Ducks can be found on TBS and TruTV.

It’s ridiculous to start a game at 9:40 at night.
