On Wednesday, Pitt announced that director of athletics Heather Lyke was named the 1st Vice President of NACDA, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
Lyke is heading into her eighth year as Pitt’s A.D.
“It is an honor to represent the University of Pittsburgh in this role and have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the country in advancing NACDA’s efforts to provide educational and professional networking opportunities,” Lyke said in a press release. “Our organization is dedicated to creating platforms for dialogue as we work together to navigate and shape the future of college athletics.”
Lyke also serves on the NCAA D1 Council, representing the ACC. Lyke is also a member of the board of directors for Women Leaders in College Sports.
Last year, NACDA honored Lyke as a 2023 Cushman & Wakefield AD of the Year Award recipient. In 2022-23 alone, Pitt hit its highest points total ever in the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup and football, men’s basketball, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and wrestling all experienced high levels of success.
In addition, Lyke has rasied a record $67 million in the last two fiscal years, including the largest single donation in Pitt athletics history. She has also been influential in Pitt’s Victory Heights project, a new state-of-the-art, $240 million athletic complex that will house 14 of Pitt’s 17 varsity sports — and provide a new arena for volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics.
Congrats Mrs. Lyke. H2P !
