Pitt is looking for a transfer portal quarterback to supplement the current depth, but the coaching staff has an eye on the class of 2025, too.
Pitt offensive coordinator Kade Bell extended a preferred walk-on offer to Beau Jackson. Jackson — a 6-foot-4, 215-pounder from West Bloomfield in Detroit, Mich. — is an interesting case. It’s a PWO offer with the potential to turn into a scholarship.

Jackson has a nice blend of size and power and has been around the program in some capacity. So, the coaching staff has seen him in-person, which is usually a requisite for an offer.
He holds offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, CMU, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Ferris State and Miami (Oh.).
Jackson is a big, strong quarterback who moves well for his size, so it’s not surprising that he’s received heavier interest from the Group of Five and FCS level. He would be a strong addition to the walk-on ranks, as Jake Frantl seems likely to move on following the season.
As it stands, David Lynch is the only walk-on quarterback who is expected to be on the roster next season. So, Jackson would add a high-upside member to the group.
247Sports rates Jackson as the 219th-ranked quarterback and 99th-ranked recruit from Michigan in the class. Rivals also rates Jackson as a two-star quarterback, holding a 5.4 Rivals Rating.
Pitt is set to return Eli Holstein and Julian Dugger next season, with signee Mason Heintschel expected to arrive on campus in January. There’s an expectation that the coaching staff will add a veteran option from the portal, but there’s room for another walk-on.
