Earlier this week, some of Pittsburgh’s top basketball players hosted an event for youth basketball players in the area.
Meleek Thomas, Amere Brown, and Amari Evans hosted the free holiday hoops camp on Christmas Eve and more than 150 kids attended.
In addition to the three who hosted the event, Pittsburgh athletes Courtney Wallace, Tyler Robbins, London Creech, Zion Moore, RJ Sledge, Kai Cox, Mia Ledonne, and others were in attendance for the event.
Thomas, Evans, and Brown are all from Pittsburgh, but Brown is the only one of the three that still plays in the Steel City. Brown plays for Woodland Hills currently, while Thomas and Evans both play for Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia. Thomas and Evans will both play their college basketball in the SEC.
Thomas, the number 8 player in the nation according to 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, is signed to play for John Calipari at Arkansas. He chose the Razorbacks over Pitt and UConn months ago at a commitment ceremony in Pittsburgh.
Evans is a 6-foot-5 wing prospect out of Pittsburgh as well. He is ranked as a top-75 prospect in the nation by 247’s composite, and is committed to Tennessee. He signed with the Volunteers over Pitt and Xavier months ago as well.
