Former Duquesne men’s basketball guard Mike Lewis has signed a professional contract with Pécsi VSK-VEOLIA men’s basketball club based in Pécs, Hungary, he told Pittsburgh Sports Now.
Lewis will play in the NB I/A, or first division, his first competitive basketball since leaving the Dukes midseason in 2018. He transferred to Nevada, where he had to sit out a year. After a coaching change at Nevada, he left the team and eventually turned pro.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
“I’m blessed to be back on the court and can’t wait to get there and get to work,” Lewis said.
At Duquesne, Lewis averaged 12.9 points per game, made 164 three-point shots and fired at an 82.2% clip from the free throw line.
Additionally, Lewis was an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection in his freshman season, leading all freshmen in points. He finished with 979 career points as a Duke.
Lewis is the second former Duke to sign professionally in Europe for 2020-21, joining center Baylee Steele, who will play in Poland.
