Friday’s Pitt Recruiting Notes

Published

on

Have a feeling that it’s going to be a busy day with information in the Pitt Recruiting Notebook.  Here goes…..

***Biggest news of the day is that New Jersey quarterback Kenny Pickett is currently on campus visiting Pitt.   Pickett, who recently de-committed from Temple, is visiting with his parents.   I’m told that Pickett was excited when being offered by Pitt last week and has serious interest in Pitt.  Keep an eye on this situation.

**After scouting him for the last couple of months, Pitt pulled the trigger and offered Fairfield, Ohio  cornerback Josiah Scott.  The 3-star prospect’s biggest offers have come from West Virginia and Iowa.

“I think Pitt is a really good school that competes in their conference really well”, said Scott. “They have a chance to be a really good team this upcoming season the way they keep getting better and better.”

“Coach Conklin was the one that offered me. He said I’m a great player all around and that I have all the skill sets they need in a corner and will be able to use my effectively in their defense.”

Scott told me that he’ll be making a trip to Pitt soon  with his dad.  He also said that he’d like to make a decision in July but that could change.

UPDATE (10:34 AM)-
**Pitt coaches have been covering a ton of territory recently (Florida, New York, California, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia) and I received messages from HS coaches last night telling me that Pitt coaches were also in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois.

UPDATE (10:52 AM)-
**While on his California recruiting trip, Coach Tim Salem checked in on Monte Vista HS ( Danville, CA) Tight End Erik Krommenhoek.   The 3-star tight end (6-5, 240) already holds an offer from Pitt.

“We had a nice long talk about life and also the football side of things at Pitt. I asked him about the medical program at Pitt and how they are going to use their tight ends.”

“Pitt is a school I’m still considering although I wouldn’t say it’s at the very top of my list right now. But I’m seeing if I can make a trip out there during the summer to visit for the first time.”

Krommenkoek also has offers from Colorado, Oregon State, Harvard, UCLA, USC and Yale.

UPDATE (11:00 AM)-
**Speaking of tight ends, as I reported to you a coupe days ago, Louisville, Kentucky tight end Jake Paulson will be visiting Pitt this weekend.   Paulson (6-5, 245) will be in town with his parents on Sunday.  The 3-star tight end was offered by Purdue yesterday.
