We apologize for the relative inactivity on the site yesterday but it was a research and planning day for Pittsburgh Sports Now. We arranged interviews for future stories, talked with potential news “partners” for the site, talked with another future writer and started laying the groundwork for an addition to PSN that a lot of you have asked for. Stay tuned.

** Malvern (PA) 2018 quarterback Kevin Doyle continues to add impressive offers to his portfolio. The junior quarterback has picked an offer from Mississippi, bringing his total up to 11. Doyle currently holds offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, West Virginia, Kentucky, Boston College and Indiana, among others.

In my opinion,  Pitt should make Doyle and Artur Sitkowski (Old Bridge, New Jersey) their quarterback priorities in the Class of 2018.

** Talked yesterday with 2017 Georgia WR Connor Heyward and got an update on his recruiting. Heyward told me that he will be making another visit to Pittsburgh before the end of the month but hasn’t figured out the exact day. Aside from Pitt, Heyward says that he plans on making other visits but hasn’t determined to which schools yet.

UPDATE (7:44 AM)-
** Fairfield (OH) 2017 cornerback and Pitt target Josiah Scott confirmed to me that he’s in the process of setting up his next visit.

“I’m shooting for July 23-24 to get out to West Virginia. Hopefully I do, but things change and I could possibly hit it a little earlier,” said Scott.

Scott is extremely high on Pitt but West Virginia is recruiting him hard. Although Scott has Iowa in his Final 3, I think this will be a Backyard Brawl between Pitt and West Virginia.

UPDATE (8:11 AM)-
** A couple local high school basketball recruiting notes. Mars 2018 SG Rob Carmody picked up another offer, this one from DePaul and Pine-Richland 2017 guard Andrew Petcash received an offer from Army.

** PSN is looking to add something to the site and we’re looking for your help. If you’re an out of town reader and are a regular reader of the site, please send us a direct message (@PghSportsNow).

UPDATE (8:34 AM)-
** Wayne, New Jersey wide receiver Evidence Njoku is a player that’s been soaring up the recruiting rankings and someone that Pitt’s been recruiting for awhile. I talked with him last night and he told me that he hasn’t visited Pitt yet but it’s something he wants to do. Njoku (6-4, 195) holds offers from Georgia, Louisville, Miami (FL), Penn State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. Tim Salem is the Pitt assistant that’s recruiting Njoku.

UPDATE (1:50 PM)-
**A big time wide receiver from Ohio announced today on Scout that Pitt will be one of has 5 official visits. 4-star wideout Jaylen Harris (6-5, 205) says that he’d like to visit Pitt, Alabama, Michigan State, Ohio State and Tennessee. We’ll do our best to contact Harris and talk to him more about Pitt.

**Originally I didn’t courtesy Bill Greene and Scout.com for this, which was an honest mistake.

UPDATE (4:44 PM)-
**This is original information from Pittsburgh Sports Now.com.  4-star safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell (Detroit, Michigan) said today that he would like to cut his large list of offers before September and I’ve learned some exclusive information.

Source tells me that when Kelly-Powell cuts his list (probably to 5 teams), that Pitt has a REAL good chance to be a finalist. Keep in mind, Kelly-Powell has offers from Arkansas, California, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

So, why is Kelly-Powell so high on Pitt? My source tells me that Kelly-Powell really likes Pat Narduzzi and has also developed a strong relationship with secondary coach Renaldo Hill. The fact that Hill has NFL experience is a big factor to Kelly-Powell.
