Pitt Football Trying to Recruit and Make Impact in Georgia

Published

on

The Pitt football program has historically heavily recruited states like Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Florida and of course Pennsylvania. However, when they made the move to the ACC in 2011, that meant their recruiting territory had a chance to expand.

Since taking over as head coach, Pat Narduzzi has attempted to get his assistants into states like Virginia, Maryland, DC and to a lesser extent Michigan.

Pitt is trying to add a new state into that mix and from the looks of things is a big priority state in this years recruiting class.

When you look at the offers that have been going out from the Pitt assistants, there’s no doubt that Pitt football wants to be noticed and to pull some recruits from the state of Georgia.

From our count, Pitt has already extended offers to 17 recruits in the state of Georgia. In my opinion, that’s a lot of offers and time spent in a state that historically they’ve never recruited.

With Georgia, Georgia Tech and other SEC programs recruiting that state, Narduzzi believes that there’s enough talent and that his staff can be successful in Georgia or they wouldn’t be putting so much time and effort being there.

PSN recently talked with a current college coach recruiter and asked him about Pitt’s attempt to have a presence in Georgia.

“There’s a lot of talent there that’s right below the upper echelon SEC schools. The recruits are open to listening to Pitt because they play so many games in that area. It makes a lot of sense for Pitt to attempt to recruit there because of them playing in the ACC. The players in Georgia are well coached and it’s really good talent. I believe that coaches in that area respect good football and the way that Pat is building the Pitt football program.”
