Mike Zmijanac Out as Aliquippa Head Coach

In shocking news, the Aliquippa school board has voted to replace Mike Zmijanac as high school football coach. The vote was 7-2.
In 21 seasons as coach at Aliquippa, Zmijanac has been one of the most successful coaches in the history of Pennsylvania compiling a record of 237-36 (.868 %) and has won 6 WPIAL Championships.
The Aliquippa football team has made it to the WPIAL championship game ten consecutive seasons.
Zmijanac, who is a Aliquippa grad, is also the schools current athletic director and has been a part of the school district for 54 years. His contract as the athletic director expires at the end of June.
The nine members of Aliquippa’a school board are Aileen Gilbert, Nicole Bible, Janice Cain, Catherine Colalella, Elverna Cuffie, Sandra Gill, Tina Price-Genes, Ezra Lowe and Maurice Cary.
Aliquippa board member Ezra Lowe said Zmijanac didn't support his players: “What about the kids that are on the corner now from the football team? … You use them for your glory, for your self-edification. What about their future? When do they get rewarded?” #TribHSSN
