After three weeks of nothing but positive recruiting news, the Pitt Panthers received some bad news last night.

The staff was hoping to add Brandon Wright as a big back to compliment the speedy Vincent Davis.

That won’t be happening because Wright (6-2, 220) gave a verbal commitment to Michigan State, who entered late in Wright’s recruiting process.

The 3-star recruit made his announcement on Twitter and becomes Michigan State’s first running back commitment for the Class of 2019.

So, where does Pitt’s recruiting now turn in a search for a running back? With three players graduating, it looks likely Pat Narduzzi will try and get a commitment from one more running back.

The following players hold offers from Pitt:

**Daniel Carter (4-star recruit): Pitt is in his Top 10 but likely won’t be making his decision anytime soon. I would imagine Carter has a committable offer up until Signing Day.

**Lew Nichols (3-star recruit): Pitt is in his Top 4 along with Purdue, Minnesota and Cincinnati. Nichols was supposed to visit Pittsburgh but didn’t and things have gone a little quiet between the two sides so I’m working to see if there’s still something there.

**John Branham (3-star recruit): This Ohio back has held an offer from Pitt for awhile and has visited the facilities but their doesn’t appear to be any momentum with this. Plus, Pitt is likely looking for a bigger, more physical player.

**Eugene Asante: We reported on this player from Virginia earlier this week and believe he’s a definite candidate to pick up an offer. Asante is 6-foot-1, 215 pounds and has a similar running style to Wright.

**Kay’Ron Adams: This is another player that’s been to the South Side and would appear to be a candidate to receive an offer. As we’ve reported, Adams has been in contact with both Andre Powell and Shawn Watson.
