Pitt Loses Out On 4-Star Forward as Tyrese Samuel Picks Seton Hall

Pitt is now 0-2 in their pursuit of talented big men.

Back on October, 4-star forward Anthony Walker committed to Miami over Pitt and two other schools and today, Pitt was a runner-up for a targeted player.

2019 4-star forward Tyrese Samuel (6’8″, 220) from Orangeville Prep (Canada) committed and signed his Letter of Intent to Seton Hall.

Samuel picked the Pirates over Pitt, Wake Forest and Georgetown.

In an interview with Pat Lawless of Prep Circuit, Samuel said, “I love their coaching staff and the energy they have with their players. They showed me how I can contribute and make them do even bigger things.”

“I would say that I realized that Seton Hall was the place for me when I went on my visit,” said Samuel. “I felt that it was the spot for me and didn’t even second guess myself. What separated them from others was how they wanted me to play. They showed me ways where I could use my versatility, which stood out to me.”

Pitt’s attention now will turn to 4-star forward Qudus Wahab (Oakton, Virginia), 4-star forward Akok Akok (Putnam Academy), 3-star center Karim Coulibaly and 5-star center Kofi Cockburn (Oak Hill Academy).
