The Pitt football program hosted a number of underclassman at last night’s basketball game against Clemson.
A majority of the recruits at The Pete were local players and included in that group was rising 2020 prospect Fintan Brose from Hempfield High School.
Brose is a big defensive tackle (6’4″ 280) with offers from Vanderbilt, Akron, Kent State, William & Mary and Bowling Green. Over the weekend, Brose attended Junior Day at Akron and received an offer from the Zips.

Brose is included in the big group of WPIAL juniors that the Pitt staff is evaluating and under consideration for receiving an offer. Currently, the Panthers have offered 4 WPIAL juniors: Norwin quarterback Jack Salopek, Mars offensive tackle Michael Carmody, Central Catholic defensive end AJ Beatty and Westinghouse defensive end Dayon Hayes.
This morning, Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up briefly with Brose to get his impressions of last night and the conversations he had with the Pitt staff.
“It was pretty cool to be able to go to the game,” said Brose. “It was good to be able to talk with the coaches outside of a football environment. I was able to talk to most if not all of the Pitt coaching staff. We talked mostly about normal topics like the basketball game, what I’m doing now in the off-season and stuff like that. There was more general conversation rather than just about football.”
Brose tells me that the coaches want him to come down for a spring practice and also to camp with them in the summer so they can evaluate him. The topic of an offer didn’t come up but if it were to happen, it would be a big deal to Brose.
“It would be awesome,” said Brose. “I grew up watching everything Pitt, my family is all in and around Pittsburgh. It would just be very cool.”
