Jeff Capel Goes To Watch 4-Star Guard DJ Gordon

Jeff Capel’s week-long recruiting visits took him to First Love Academy in Washington, Pa. on Tuesday to watch 2020 four-star guard DJ Gordon.

Despite holding a number of big offers, Gordon is still waiting to get an offer from Pitt. This was a big day for Gordon because it was the first time Capel has watched him in person.

Not only was Capel there, assistants from TCU and DePaul were in the gym as, well to watch Gordon.

“Our workout started out slow but then it started picking up throughout practice,” Gordon told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I was happy with how I performed, I played good. My shooting was a bit off but everything else was good, my defense, rebounding, hustle plays.

”I talked with Coach Capel afterwards, it was short but he said that he was going to call me later tonight. So, I’ll be waiting until tonight to really get feedback from him.”

Considering he wants the offer from Pitt, did Gordon feel pressure to perform in front of Capel?

”I was actually just really excited to have him watch me and wanted to put on a show for the coaches that were there especially Pitt since I don’t have that offer from them yet. I also wanted to prove something and really show him what I can do since it’s the first time he’s stayed and watched me the entire time.”

I asked Gordon what his emotions are right now about still waiting for that offer and if he’s frustrated?

”No, I’m just being patient about everything,” said Gordon. “Maybe they’re waiting because I’m a hometown guy. That’s ok because I have time and I don’t plan on committing anywhere anytime soon. I’m just going to stay positive and patient.”

Gordon will have another opportunity to perform in front of Capel and other big programs this weekend in Atlanta at the first big AAU Tournament of the season.
