Die-Hards: Big Day of Pitt Basketball Recruiting News

Starting this week and over the next month or so, Jeff Capel and his staff will be all over the country attempting to recruit elite high school talent to Pitt.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has a recap of the players Pitt visited yesterday, we also talked to a couple of them and we’ll also let you know what’s in store for today.

The obvious big news from yesterday was the offer made to Moon 2020 4-star guard Donovan Johnson.

In case you missed it, here’s our interview with him from last evening talking about the offer.

A source told me that Jeff Capel was very impressed watching Johnson’s workout and liked him a lot. They’ll be on hand to watch him this weekend in Dallas.

Prior to going to Moon High School, Capel was at First Love Academy watching 2020 guard DJ Gordon.

As of this morning, no offer has been extended but Capel will be on hand to watch Gordon in action this weekend in Atlanta during AAU play.

Gordon me this morning that Capel messaged him afterwards and said, “LOVED watching you today! I’m a HUGE fan of yours!”
