Belgrave (6’2”, 220) becomes the Panthers 5th commitment today and 6th this weekend.

“Pitt made it feel like home this weekend,” said Belgrave. “Coach Narduzzi did a great job of explaining to me who he was and how he runs his defense.”

”Plus, Coach Partridge introduced me to a couple of defensive ends who told me how Coach Partridge completely changed their defensive line. Our defense line at Southridge does a lot of same stuff that Pitt runs now. So as a football decision, I’d be making a similar transition from what I’m doing now to something similar at Pitt.”

Aside from the defensive scheme, Belgrave’s relationship with Partridge played a big role.

”Coach Partridge is such a great coach and a great family man,” said Belgrave. “The first time I met him, I was 183 pounds and he said, ‘Man you can get off the ball.’ I said yes I can. So, the first time he saw my highlights he offered me and said ‘I like you, you’re going to be very special.’ He said that not knowing much about me and who I was.”

”He’s a real guy and that’s what I like, coaches that I can relate to.”

I asked Belgrave if he knew coming into the weekend that he’d be committing to Pitt.

”I came to Pittsburgh with the intentions that I might be committing because I knew that it could be a real good atmosphere and situation for me.”

Belgrave committed to Pitt over offers from Nebraska, Indiana, Rutgers and South Florida.
