The accolades continue for Pitt senior Maurice Ffrench as he was named to the Preseason All-ACC team as a specialist on Tuesday.

Last season, Ffrench was the top ACC kickoff returner averaging 27.4 yards per return and returned two for touchdowns. With the graduation of Rafael Araujo-Lopes, Pitt’s top punt returner, Ffrench could could take over those duties as well.

Ffrench will also be counted on to be one of Kenny Pickett’s top weapons from the wide receiver position. In 2018, the New Jersey native caught 35 passes for 515 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. He also rushed for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns. That performance led to an All-America selection as a kick returner by Phil Steele and All-ACC honorable mentions as both a returner and as an all-purpose player after the 2018 season.

Along with this honor, Ffrench was also named to the 2019 Maxwell Award Watch List, an award given to college football’s most outstanding player. Two other Pitt players have been named to preseason watch lists: safety Damar Hamlin (Bednarik Award) and center Jimmy Morrissey (Rimington Trophy).
