Die-Hards: Pitt Talking to Grad Transfer Cornerback

Published

on

The Pitt 2020 football season begins in less than two weeks when they’ll host Austin Peay at Heinz Field.

The Pitt starters on offense and defense are pretty much set but a competition at cornerback is taking place due to the injury to Damarri Mathis. It was announced last week that the talented and reliable senior would miss the 2020 season due to an undisclosed, off-the-field injury.

A.J. Woods and Marquis Williams are the leading contenders to replace Mathis in the starting secondary, but there’s also another option.

Being so close to the start of the season, this is a bit unusual, but Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned of a cornerback that’s in the transfer portal that has been talking to the Pitt staff.
