Florida 2022 3-Star WR Camden Brown: ‘Shocking’ to Get Offer From Pitt

St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida has a football program that produces D-I and Power Five football recruits on a yearly basis.

Going back to Dave Wannstedt’s time as head coach, Pitt has enjoyed success landing recruits from that program. In recent years, former St. Thomas Aquinas alum like Albert Tucker, Daniel Carter and Jahvante Royal have joined the Pitt football program.

Charlie Partridge was back busy recruiting that school on Thursday and offered two players in the Class of 2022. Tight end Mason Taylor and wide receiver Camden Brown both received the news that their latest Power Five offers were from Pitt.

Brown is a 6-foot-3, 190 3-star wide receiver that also has offers from Power Five programs such as Indiana, Kentucky and Syracuse along with other offers from Cincinnati and Tulane.

“Getting this news today was shocking,” Brown tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I was in class and looked down at my phone and saw a message from my coach that I received an offer from Pitt. I just thought to myself wow, this is amazing. I wasn’t expecting this. A couple months back, Coach Partridge started following me on Twitter but I haven’t really been in contract since then. That’s why this is shocking.”

Brown’s knowledge of the Pitt program is limited but he was quick out two things that he knows and likes about the Panthers.

“Aaron Donald (laughing), I know about him. Also, I love the Pitt uniforms, they really stand out to me. Really like them. They’re really cool.”

When describing his game on the field, Brown made it clear what separates him from a lot of his opponents and it’s a big reason for all of the college interest he’s receiving.

“One thing that I can tell you is that I’ll take anyone deep. Anyone,” said Brown. “When someone is covering me, I love when they try and press me because I’m a very physical player as well and can get off the ball and then I run by you. The long strides that I have make it difficult for the defensive backs to keep up with me. I also consider myself very long and athletic.”

“As far as my speed, that’s something that I really developed and worked on. I’ve actually gotten a lot faster from my freshman year until now.”

Brown tells PSN that aside from the schools that have offered him already, he’s also hearing and communicating with coaches from Wake Forest, Colorado State, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech and Maryland.

When and if the recruiting visit restrictions are lifted, Brown says that he’d like to visit some of the schools that have offered him and definitely plans on visiting Pitt.
