Pitt Postgame Show: Did Panthers, Xavier Johnson Show True Potential?

Published

on

Pitt needed to respond after their worst performance of the season against Notre Dame. Xavier Johnson needed to play better following a couple poor performances in the midst of the Panthers three-game losing streak. Both of those things happened as Pitt picked up a big win over Virginia Tech 83-72.

Host Mike Asti is joined by Pittsburgh Sports Now’s George Michalowski on this edition of Pittsburgh Postgame on Pittsburgh Sports Live to recap the win and preview the schedule ahead. Can Pitt expect another performance like this one from Xavier Johnson? Did winning without a dominating effort from Justin Champagnie show Pitt has the depth t make a run and get themselves into the March Madness field?

VT expecting Hunter Coutour (sp) to stay with X is ridiculous. Beede also showed himself to be an offensive liability. Mutts played well against JC for the majority of the game. Aluma is a transfer monster who beat the Whoos in Blacksburg by himself. Loosing Radford finally bit VT but he likely will be back after the DUI conviction and the gun charge was taken under advisement. Cudos to Pitt shutting down Cone in 2nd half going 0-6 from 3.
