Former Gateway Gator Robert Hainsey becomes the first WPIAL player selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Notre Dame offensive lineman was selected in the 3rd round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hainsey (6’4”, 306) started out at Gateway before transferring to IMG Academy before signing with Notre Dame.
In four seasons with the Fighting Irish, Hainsey started 34 games and is someone that bring versatility with being able to play either guard or tackle. Hainsey is also a leader having been named a team captain at Notre Dame for the 2019 and 2020 season.
