Kenny Pickett Files Trademark for His Personal K8 Logo

Pitt football quarterback Kenny Pickett has filed a trademark for his personal logo. The filing was done by Darren Heitner, a lawyer who specializes in sports entertainment. Pickett’s design features a K and the number 8 mashed together with the University of Pittsburgh’s blue and gold color scheme. This deal is likely pointing towards Pickett selling merchandise with his brand that is now filled with a trademark.

Pickett is no stranger to brand promotion and endorsements as just last week he announced a deal with the Oaklander Hotel in Pittsburgh’s restaurant Spirits & Tables. The redshirt senior is taking advantage of the NCAA’s new name, image, and identity (NIL) policy which lets students profit off of their name brand.

Entering his last season with Pitt, Pickett will take charge as the starting quarterback once more. In three years, Pickett has started in 36 games and played in 39. He is third in program history for most yards with 8,552. He sits 2,596 yards behind Alex Van Pelt for the all-time lead. On Monday, he was named to the Maxwell Football Club’s award watchlist which is given to the most outstanding player in college football.

The #8 coincidentally also the over/under on TD passes that KP throws this year.

I’m guessing his major wasn’t graphic design. But hey, if it makes him a few well-earned dollars, who cares what it looks like?

Just wanted to add that the gold part of the number 8 is the letter P, so it is actually his initials and number
