This weekend, as Pitt’s football program hosts Clemson in its biggest game of the year, the basketball program will be welcoming several recruits for unofficial visits.
Earlier in the week. senior wing Fray Nguimbi confirmed to Pittsburgh Sports Now that he would be in attendance on a visit on Saturday. In addition to Nguimbi, according to Houston Wilson of Rivals, Darren Harris will be on campus as well.
Harris is another wing, but is only a sophomore in high school at the moment at St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Virginia. The 6-foot-6 prospect prides himself on his shooting and playmaking abilities and is one of the top DMV-area prospects in his class.
“I’m a catch-and-shoot guy first, but when I need to, I put the ball on the floor and look to score or make a play,” Harris told 247 Sports in a recent interview. “My defense is improving, I’m unselfish, and just want to win at any cost.”
Harris holds offers from George Mason and Georgetown, and also just recently visited Virginia Tech. He is certainly one of the top targets for these the DMV-area schools, and Pitt will try to pry him away from the area.
247 Sports’ Colby Giacubeno also recently reported that another prospect, Carlton Carringon, will be in attendance for the game on Saturday.
Carrington is a 6-foot-3 combo guard in the class of 2023 out of Baltimore, Maryland who Jeff Capel has been locked in on for a while now.
Carrington holds offers from Pitt, DePaul, George Mason, George Washington, Rutgers, and Loyola (MD). Back in June, again according to Giacubeno, Carrington heard from Pitt within the first few weeks that coaches were allowed to talk to 2023 prospects.
Ha, ha, ha. . . Capel won’t even be at Pitt by the time this kid is ready for a college decision.
