Earlier this week, the Pitt football program hosted a junior lineman and afterwards, the staff extended him an offer.

2023 3-star offensive guard Evan Tengesdahl (Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio) made his first ever trip to Pittsburgh and toured the facility and talked with various members of the Panthers staff. At the end of his visit, Tengesdahl got the news that Pitt was his latest Division I offer. The 6’4″, 285 pound lineman also holds offers from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Kent State, Miami (OH), Toledo and Western Michigan.

“My reason for being at Pitt was that my dad had to be in Pittsburgh. He has to travel there once a week for work, so I went down there with him,” said Tengesdahl. “I let the Pitt staff know a couple days ahead of time and they invited me over and onto the campus. I ended up getting a tour, saw all of the facilities, the locker room, the field. Afterwards, I had a good talk with the head coach, the defensive coordinator and the offensive line coach and that’s when I got the offer from Coach Narduzzi.”

“As soon as I got in town, I really liked the city. I liked how the school is kind of built into the city and saw college life for the first time, which was a really cool experience. Previously, I only was able to see the things at Pitt on pictures so I really liked seeing things in-person. I really liked the facilities.”

The highlight of the day was obviously getting the news that Pitt was offering him a scholarship. Tengesdahl talked to us about the conversation leading up to the news and got his thoughts on his second Power Five offer.

“I’ve been hearing from Pitt pretty much since the day that they were allowed to make contact with us. I hear from and get mail from them at least once a week,” said Tengesdahl. “I’ve also been texting with the coaches and get a check-up call every once in a while. So, when I had my talk with Coach Borbely the other day, he critiqued my game and pointed out things that he liked about me and my game and how he believes I’d fit in with their program. He mentioned the offer and said that he put it up to Coach Narduzzi and after I talked with the defensive coordinator, I went up and talked to Coach Narduzzi. After a good talk with him and him telling me about the background of their program, he told me that I had an offer from Pitt.”

“I kind of felt that an offer could be coming eventually but I never felt that an offer would come then. I really just went there to meet the coaches and see their facilities so getting that news, I was shocked to receive an offer from the head coach.”

Tengesdahl tells PSN that he isn’t currently talking with a lot of programs but is hearing from Liberty, Wake Forest and Minnesota. He wants to try and get out and make a couple unofficial visits before the end of the season and would like to visit Heinz Field soon.
