2023 Forward Brandon Williams Breaks Down Pitt Offer, Skill Set

Weeks after picking up a commitment from 2023 wing Marlon Barnes, Pitt has now focused its attention to some other prospects in the junior class, including Brandon Williams.

Williams is a 6-foot-8 forward out of Christ the King in New York, who plays for PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit.

After talking to Associate Head Coach Tim O’Toole numerous times in the past, Williams, on Wednesday, heard from the man in charge: Head coach Jeff Capel.

“I was excited,” Williams told Pittsburgh Sports Now about the offer. “It’s not my first time talking to the coaching staff there, so I was real excited. I spoke to Coach Capel yesterday, and I have talked to Coach O’Toole before.”

Pitt Offers 2023 NY Power Forward Brandon Williams

“To be honest, not much,” he said when asked what he knows about Pitt. “But I do know that they have some New York guys and one of them plays my position.”

As for that position, Williams says, he can play pretty much anywhere on the court.

“I am listed as a power forward, but I can play 1-4,” he continued. “I would say I am a wing, and I just try to be versatile and try to just do everything I can on the floor.”

“I think he’s great in the mid-range and mid-post,” Williams’ coach told PSN. “Very good offensive rebounder. Also a great playmaker in transition when he gets to rebound and push the ball.”

Williams also included that he does want to eventually take a visit to Pitt.

As for a potential reclassification, Williams said he will not be moving up to ’22. In fact, if anything, there is another option on the table for him if he wants to take it.

“I’m actually a late birthday,” Williams said. “If anything, I would be re-classing down. I could really be a 2024. I don’t turn 17 until November 1st.”

Bringing them in too early….as they did with Jeffress, should be a lesson. DON’T.
