6-foot-7 Wing Transfer Blake Hinson Commits to Pitt

Published

on

On Monday night, Pitt added another transfer commitment as Blake Hinson committed to the Panthers.

Hinson stands at 6-foot-7 and has played for both Ole Miss and Iowa State in his college career. He took an official visit to Pitt over the weekend, and decided to commit to the program on Monday. In his 60 games with Ole Miss, Hinson averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. In his sophomore season, the Florida native shot 40% from the field, 33% from three and 72% from the free-throw line.

Hinson then joined the Cyclones in 2020 when Steve Prohm was still the head coach. Hinson missed the season due to an illness, and left the program in October 2021 once current ISU head coach TJ Otzelberger took over the program. Hinson has three years of eligibility remaining for the Panthers.

Pitt has now added two players from the transfer portal this offseason, with Nelly Cummings, a 6-foot guard from Colgate, and Hinson joining the program. The Panthers have six more scholarships open at the moment, and are hosting several players on visits Monday and throughout the rest of the week.

Now what’s the odds of Akok, Johnson and Roche committing?

Roche isn’t coming. Like their chances with Johnson. 50/50 on Akok.

Thanks for the update. Without roche they are going to need a shooter. Any idea who their best options are for the shooter?

I’m so happy jeffress stayed at pitt, I still believe he will turn into a really good player, Any idea why he decided to stay when so many people predicted that he was out the door?

My opinion, after the horrid season he had with plenty of opportunities, he wasn’t going to transfer to a better program than Pitt. That’s how bad his season was. He played good defense and rebounded above his size but his offensive production was to be charitable, wanting.

Team taking shape. Looks like starting 5 will be an upgrade from last year (Cummings is a + over Femi or Onye, Sibande is a + over Horten, Hinson is a flat/- over Gueye, at least until he finds his stride) Still missing 2-3 pieces, including another guard. Wish Femi and/or Onye had stuck around. Perhaps Johnson can fill that role if he signs on. H2P !

The team desperately needs akok and some shooters. I agree the starting 5 can be better but without a big guy that can rim protect and shooters they will be below average.

Right here skippy. They signed a 40% shooter who hasn’t played in three years. Pump the brakes on the ecstasy fanboy.
