The Pittsburgh Panthers avoided a sweep as they took the series finale against No. 4 Miami, 9-4, on Sunday, April 24.

Panthers starter Billy Corcoran allowed four baserunners across seven innings, and struck out eight. He gave up one run, a fourth inning homer by sophomore third baseman Yohandy Morales.

The Panthers managed to get hits with runners in scoring position, an issue that plagued them to begin the series, and chased Hurricanes starter Alejandro Rosario from the game after two innings.

Catcher Tatem Levins gave the Panthers an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning.

In the second, center fielder Jordan Anderson and right fielder Dom Popa each hit an RBI single, and Levins cleared the bases with his second home run in as many innings, a 3-run blast that made it 6-0.

Center fielder Jordan Anderson made it 8-1 in the sixth inning with an RBI single with runners at the corners. Brock Franks scored from first on the play via a fielding error by Hurricanes right fielder Zach Levenson.

Baron Stuart took over for Corcoran in the eighth and struck out three across two innings.

Bryce Hulett and Tommy Tavarez drew two-out walks in the ninth, and moved to second and third on a passed ball. Jake Overbeek legged out an infield single that made it 9-1.

The Hurricanes began the ninth with back-to-back singles, and Levenson hit a two-out home run to left to make it 9-4. The next pitch ended the game as Stuart induced a groundout.

The win moves the Panthers to 22-16 on the season, and 10-10 in the ACC. They’ll take the field next against North Carolina A&T on Friday, April 29 at 6pm, with Matt Gilbertson projected to start.
