Pat Narduzzi: Kedon Slovis Used Transfer Portal “The Right Way”

In the midst of Jordan Addison’s transfer portal entrance, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi competed at the 15th annual Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament on Tuesday.

And while Narduzzi played some golf, paired with former Colorado, Washington and UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel, at Reynolds Lake Oconee just outside of Atlanta, he also discussed NILs and the transfer portal.

In a quote shared by Panther Lair’s Chris Peak on Twitter, Narduzzi discussed new quarterback Kedon Slovis’s Pitt transfer as using the transfer portal “the right way.”

“(Slovis) went into the portal the real way — the right way — and he had a lot of opportunities with name, image and likeness, but I think he was looking for the right fit. He was looking for the right personnel and we have a lot returning on offense; that’s what he was looking for. He wasn’t looking for a payday. He was looking for the right place to be with a great culture and he wanted people — he wanted a team that was going to be (tight). So that’s what Kedon got, and he’s been special ever since he got here.”

Slovis has been competing with Nick Patti for Pitt’s starting quarterback spot this spring, and Narduzzi’s recent praise is the highest he’s spoken of Slovis since he arrived from USC in December.

Narduzzi’s quote also offers a pointed take on how he feels a player can use the transfer portal and NIL opportunities, and as such, it appears that any chance of Addison returning to Pitt next season is out the window.
