Just days after announcing his commitment to Pitt, former Marquette guard Greg Elliott officially signed with the program on Friday morning.
“Greg is a talented guard who brings toughness, three-point shooting , experience and maturity to our backcourt rotation,” head coach Jeff Capel said in a release. “He has been productive throughout his career and has the ability to really impact the game with his three-point shooting. Greg’s overall skill set fits well with the rest of our backcourt and will help enable us to move guys around on the wings more freely. We are excited about how the roster is shaping up and eager to get on the court to prepare for the 2022-23 season.”
Elliott joins the experienced back court made up of Nelly Cummings, Jamarius Burton, and Nike Sibande. Those four have combined to score over 4,300 points, play 454 games, and knock down 516 three pointers at the Division One level.
Greg Elliott: A Story of Adversity, Leadership, and Opportunity
Elliott has one year of eligibility remaining with Pitt. The 6-foot-3 guard was on Marquette’s roster for five years, playing in four seasons and missing one due to injury. He is a career 41% three-point shooter, and this past season, hit a career-high 34 threes. Elliott averaged seven points, two rebounds, and 1.1.3 assists per game this year.
Pitt still has two open scholarships available for next season’s roster, after bringing in Elliott, Cummings, Jorge Diaz-Graham, Guillermo Diaz-Graham, and Blake Hinson this offseason.
