Whittington committed to Charlie Partridge and Pitt back in April despite only being a junior. Despite the early pledge, Pitt fans are nervous about Whittington because he continues to get pursued by a number of programs, particularly Penn State.

The Pitt staff envisions Whittington being a big contributor on their future defensive line and replacing current star defensive tackle Calijah Kancey.

Getting him to make as many visits as possible to Pittsburgh and getting him comfortable around the players and the program as well as continuing to develop his relationship with Partridge and the rest of the Panther staff will be important.

Rivals rates Whittington as the No. 9 defensive tackle in 2024 with offers from Pitt, Penn State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Nebraska, Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Boston College.
