The Pitt coaching staff has been able to make it to nearly every corner of the East Coast this week, traveling as far south as Florida to recruit, but Pat Narduzzi only had to take a quick drive down Route 51 to reach James Weir Stadium in Belle Vernon, Pa.

Narduzzi made it out to Rostraver Township Friday night to watch Belle Vernon High take on Mt. Pleasant High. Belle Vernon’s star athlete, 2024 five-star athlete, is Quinton Martin.

Martin helped lead Belle Vernon to a 55-7 victory over Mt. Pleasant Friday, and it was made possible by five first half touchdowns from the electric playmaker. Martin, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound athlete, was able to make an impact as a running back, wide receiver and defensive back for the Leopards.

It was the second time this season in which Martin has made a massive first half effort, dating back to a 41-20 win over 2023 four-star West Virginia commit Rodney Gallagher and Laurel Highlands in which he scored three first half touchdowns.

“I see myself as an athlete,” Martin told PSN in September. “(Belle Vernon) Coach (Matt Humbert) can put me anywhere, and I will go anywhere the team needs to me go.”

In six games recorded on MaxPreps (prior to the effort against Mt. Pleasant), Martin has racked up 451 yards and nine touchdowns on 54 carries (8.4 average) and 116 yards on 10 receptions. He’s also accumulated 11 tackles (11 solo) on defense as a little-targeted defensive back.

247Sports rates Martin as the 15th-ranked recruit in the class (third-ranked athlete and top-ranked recruit from Pennsylvania) while Rivals rates him as the 30th-ranked recruit in the class (third-ranked running back and top-ranked recruit from Pennsylvania.

Pitt was the first school to offer Martin back in 2020 during his freshman season at Belle Vernon, and he’s since picked up offers from Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Narduzzi get him any Knoxville TN McDonalds from his trip South and back? That would work better than telling him about Izzy last game.
