The Panthers are in the midst of their best season under head coach Jeff Capel at 13-6 overall and 6-2 in ACC play. The 2022-23 team is stacked with a mixture of veterans and a few young players contributing in their own roles to set Pitt up for a possible tournament bid.
Next season, the Panthers will deploy one of their top recruits in the Capel era in guard Jaland Lowe.
Lowe ranks 66th overall in the updated 2023 ESPN 100 Recruiting Database. He is the highest Panther recruit of the class and the only player to crack the top 100 list. A 6-foot-1, 140-pound point guard from Houston, Texas,
Lowe committed to Pitt on Nov. 1, 2022, over SMU, Memphis, and other interested schools. He was officially offered by Capel in July.
“Pittsburgh was so different from what I envisioned in my head,” Lowe said to Pittsburgh Sports Now in September after visiting campus. “The city was great; the people were great, and it was just very unique. I loved the facilities, the Pitt coaches were great, overall, the visit was way better than I was expecting it to be.”
The lefty shooter is graded 83 overall by ESPN and ranked 76th overall by 247 Sports.
Capel finally landed a PG. Cheers. Kid needs to put a little weight on, only 140 lbs.
And there’s no more O fries & gravy to do it ! Use to be a lot of pizza places around campus. Mineo’s & Aiello’s aren’t to far either.
