Pitt Reaches Out to Coveted FIU Guard Transfer Denver Jones

Due to graduation, Jeff Capel has a big hole on his roster to fill for next season.

The strength of this year’s team was their ability shoot from 3-point range but the Panthers won’t have Greg Elliott, Nike Sibande, Nelly Cummings and Jamarius Burton to rely on anymore.

Blake Hinson will return but he’ll need help and Pitt is already scouring the transfer portal to do just that.

Per Joe Tipton from On3, Pitt has reached out to Florida International transfer guard Denver Jones.

Last season for FIU, the 6’4″, 195-pounds sophomore from New Market, Alabama averaged 20.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 33.5 minutes per game. Jones shot 47.8% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the 3-point arc. As a freshman in 2021-22, Jones averaged 12.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and had a 34.5 3-point pct.
